On the busy corner of N.E. Sandy Blvd. & 64th Street, behind the white
picket fence and charming garden, lies the new home of It's My Pleasure.
After 6½ years on Hawthorne Blvd. the store relocated to its permanent
home which is a large, old white house in the north side of Sandy, behind
the bus stop at 64th St. This new resource center in the new space is
a beautiful gift store which sells a wide array of items including music,
cards, candles, jewelry, incense, gay pride merchandise, safer sex items,
erotic toys and books.
It's My Pleasure originated as a safe and inviting place for women
to buy erotic and sexuality items; clientele includes all ages, genders
and sexual orientations. Approaching sexuality from a holistic perspective,
It's My Pleasure carries items for both pleasure and education. Upstairs
from the store are three professional offices where massage, therapy
and naturopathic medicine practitioners have their practices.
Sacred Grounds is a charming cottage and coffee house on the corner
of N.E. Sandy Blvd. & 64th St., behind the bus stop on Siskiyou, adjacent
to It's My Pleasure. Step into calm, serene and friendly energy, a place
where the sky is always blue and the sun always shines. Open Monday
through Thursday from 11AM to 7PM, Friday & Saturdays 10AM to 9PM, Sundays
10AM to 6PM. It is a wonderful little place to stop and relax, study,
read, write, or catch up with an old friend. A large array of community
resources, including the very popular "housing" book and bulletin boards
of events/business cards are available here. Friday & Saturday evenings
the room fills with music offered by local musicians, and the energy
comes alive with laughter.
The first Sunday of every month is open mic, all are welcome. Most
weekday evenings there is a group of some sort meeting here after closing.
Take a moment from your busy day to stop by, stay awhile, relax and
you will leave feeling good.
Joining our little conglomeration of businesses and services is ART-ZEE,
selling art prints and posters in the space that used to be our coffee
house, adjacent to the main house. Art-Zee will open mid-to-early July.
Come check them out as well as the other women who have offices upstairs:
Sierra Levy, naturopath physician and midwife; Alison Dean, therapist;
and Krystee Sidwell, masseuse. Call us for more information and their
numbers.
